Belle H
Session:

I wake up and look around my room. Photos of my friends and family, drawings that I’ve done, and things that I’ve bought. Everything that makes me happy, all bundled together to create one big happy place. I open my wardrobe and see all the other things that make me happy- my soft toys, my craft supplies, and all my favourite clothes. All the jewellery that I've received as gifts from people I love, and all the little toys that I love to collect.

But the most amazing part of my bedroom is my books- a bookcase filled to the brim with all of my favourite stories. Some books I just keep reading over and over because they are so interesting, and at the very top of the shelf, there are photo books from when I was a baby, to right now.

As I walk to the kitchen to have my breakfast, I stop to admire my home along the way. My family's grand dining table, the matching buffet, and beautiful pink roses from my mum's rose bush sit on the bench.

In our back room, me and my sister's lego is piled on the coffee table, making a little village, our piano that my dad is so good at playing, and the twinkling fairy lights on the roof. All of this is what brings joy to me and my family's life every day, just little beauties that may not mean much to anyone else, but mean the world to us. Some things new, some things old, but the thing that they have in common is that they make our house our home.

I walk into our media room, with the big TV that we watch. I remember all the memories in this room, eating pizza and laughing at our favourite movies, my dad always finds the best videos that make us crack up. The PlayStation that we love to play, laughing, screaming with joy as we play our favourite games. I relax on the couch and look at the shelves beside the TV. Little memories from when my parents went on holidays before my sister and I were born, as well as some little Star Wars LED lights and baby Yoda soft toys.

Before I finish, I’ll talk about our backyard. We have an outside table, a tub full of pool toys, and a coffee table, along with two more chairs. Then, we have a big pool, the water sparkles aquamarine and sky blue in the glowing sun. My sister, my friends, and my family love having a play in the pool. It's always fun. Then, beside the pool, there is a rectangle of green grass where my grandma's dog, Buddy, likes to zoom around. I have a little fairy garden outside of my window (my bedroom window faces the backyard), and a bunch of pretty flowers grown along the fence, with a lemon tree that we don't really get lemons from. My fairy garden is just a bird bath with succulents and little garden fairy people. There is also a stick with lights that seem to be spraying out the top that turn on at night.

There are many rooms in this house, too many for me to describe right now, but there is one thing that is vital to making a home. Actually, four things...

A family! My kind mum, who always loves me and supports me, my hilarious dad, who always makes us laugh, my funny, energetic sister, who loves to run around and play games with me.

Then, there is me! I love my family and my home, as well as reading and writing. I also love drawing and colouring in.

Home feels comfortable, it feels warm and safe and happy. I think that it is the people and the things inside the house that make it a home. My family’s house wouldn't be home if it didn't have my kind and funny family in it. Even if we didn't own much, we would still have each other. But the things inside the house also play a role in making it a home. They show us where we have been, what we have done, or what we have achieved. All of these factors work together to make a true home.
