- Shadows Over The Lost Isles !
10
The wind carried the scent of scorched leaves, dry and sharp, though no fire burned. They crackled beneath invisible feet, turning to ash that smelled of nothing and everything at once. Violet sparks twisted through the gray mist, coiling into a shadow that moved with intent. Erebrynn had come, the only known dark sorceress to ever exist. Her presence shimmered between substance and smoke, her eyes glowing like distant storms, and the world seemed to bend around her, as if the air itself feared her passing.
Beneath her feet, the Lost Isles trembled. The gems she had stolen pulsed faintly in her grasp, their light dimmed and suffocating, and with each stolen stone, the islands’ forests withered, rivers slowed, and the air itself began to lose its warmth. Life itself was bleeding from the world Erynd had sworn to protect.
Erynd knelt among the jagged cliffs, eyes scanning the mist. Keeper of the Lost Isles and guardian of the ancient gems, he felt the pain of the land as if it were his own. Every tree curling into ash, every river that stuttered and slowed, every creature that vanished into silence struck at him. His hands hovered over the empty crevices where the gems once rested, and for a moment he felt the weight of failure crushing him.
Then came a tremor in the air, faint but insistent, a pulse that whispered hope. From the depths of the mists, silver-blue scales shimmered, catching the moonlight like shards of crystal. Elowen had awakened. Every instinct, every beat of her heart, pulled her toward her Keeper.
Elowen remembered the worst of it. Captured by Erebrynn, she had been locked away in a cage of twisted, magical bars. Tears had washed over her scales, but she had refused to surrender. She had fought with every ounce of strength she possessed. The bars cracked beneath her claws and wings, finally shattering, and she was free.
She flew through the swirling mist, dodging the sorceress’s spells and traps, each more dangerous than the last. Every obstacle hardened her resolve. She had one goal: to reach her Keeper, the only being she called family. Somehow, against every attack, she escaped. The mist cleared, and there, struggling against the weight of Erebrynn’s magic, was Erynd. Slowly, he rose as she approached, awe and relief shining in his eyes.
Together, they faced Erebrynn. Shadows twisted and sparks clashed across the stones, but the bond between Keeper and dragon pulsed stronger than any dark magic. Step by step, wing by wing, claw by claw, they advanced. The sorceress’s power lashed and roared, yet their unity could not be broken.
With a final surge of combined will, Erebrynn’s shadows unraveled, swept into the mist she had once commanded. The Lost Isles shivered, then stilled, and light returned to the hidden gems, the rivers, and the forests. Life flowed back into the land, responding to the strength of their bond.
Exhausted but unbroken, Erynd and Elowen stood side by side. No words were needed. Their connection was more than magic, more than survival. They were family. They were guardians. And together, nothing could ever threaten the Lost Isles again.
