I suddenly woke up. Slowly, as I tried to use my numb hands to shift the blankets and sheets off my weary body, I caught a glance at my daily calendar. It was the athletics carnival! A sudden burst of energy zoomed throughout my now energetic body. I raced downstairs and stopped at the bottom to catch my breath. I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth. Then, I ran out to the dining room, stuffed a piece of toast in my mouth, slipped on my shoes and ran outside.

Now, usually I would come in around 14th place in all the races and other sporting events, but today was different. When I got there, the rest of my school and I put our bags down and headed to our 1st activity, which was a 200m race. We all lined up, and one of the teachers started the race. Everyone was so fast that I thought that I would come in last place, but I pushed myself and zoomed past all the other contestants. When everyone else finally came, the teachers announced me as the 200m race champion.

The rest of the activities passed, and when the end neared, we journeyed back to our school for the award ceremony. A wave of happiness rushed through me as I got called up for my medal. As soon as I got home, I told my parents all about my wonderful day and fell asleep dreaming that I would win more prizes next year.
